A Study on Xie Bingxin’s Social Status from“LüOu Riji ”in 1955 of her Private Diaries, MAKINO, Noriko, Bulletin of the Sinological Society of Kokugakuin, 第66輯, 25 Dec. 2020, the Sinological Society of Kokugakuin, Discovered in 2004, Xie Bingxin's private diary spans a long period of time, from 1955 to the 1990s. The author viewed the actual diary in March 2018 and September 2019. The handwriting in the diary is very detailed and difficult to read. Wang Binggen, former director of the Bingxin Literature Museum, deciphered the diaries and published some of them as "Bingxin Diary" (2018). The "Traveling Europe Diary" in the book, named for convenience by Wang Binggen, is a concise record of her 31-day visit to Europe from June 29 to July 28, 1955.
This presentation compares and contrasts the "Traveling Europe Diary" in "Bing Xin Diary" with the actual diary, pointing out corrections and clarifying the "World Mothers' Convention" and other activities in Europe that she participated in during this period. She also compared her outings before and after this period, her creative situation in the 1950s, and her social status at that time with Li Dequan, the leader of the Chinese women's delegation to Europe in 1955, and Ding Ling, a female writer of the same period, to explore her social status at that time.

, This paper is about "A Night on Lake Seiko," a collection of translations of modern Chinese literature published by Hakusuisha in 1939. Doi Hikoichiro was a businessman who had trained as a young boy in a Chinese merchant family, and after returning to Japan, he studied English, French, and Chinese literature to deepen his education. He was not a specialist in Chinese literature, but in exploring the question of why he published such a collection of translations, we can discover a part of the understanding of Chinese literature in prewar Japan.
The Chinese Students Going to the US in 1926, MAKINO Noriko, Bulletin of the Sinological Society of Kokugakuin, No.61, 25 Dec. 2015, The Sinological Socoety of Kokugakuin University, In the 1920s, China was at war in many parts of the country as warlords from various regions fought for supremacy. Shanghai was no exception, and in 1926, Sun Chuanfang took control of the city from the Beiyang government. With this change, the program of sending students to study in the U.S., which had been in place since the 1910s, underwent a complete transformation. This article clarifies the impact of the change of government, including the number of Chinese students going to America, the content of farewell parties for Chinese students, and the enhancement of pre-departure procedures and accommodations.
On Chung-Gi Kwei, MAKINO Noriko, Bulletin of the Sinological Society of Kokugakuin, No.60, 25 Dec. 2014, the Sinological Society of Kokugakuin, This paper describes Chunggi Kwei (Gui Chongji, 桂崇基), who represented a foreign student returning from the U.S. and engaged in support activities during the May Thirtieth Incident (五卅事件). He studied in the U.S. under the auspices of Sun Yat-sen, and after returning to China, he worked as a member of the leftist faction of the Chinese Nationalist Party. After Chiang Kai-shek's rise to power, he did not play a prominent role, but after his transition to Taiwan, he devoted himself to educational projects and became the president of a university. Although he is a minor figure buried in history, he is a very interesting figure in terms of his part in history.

The 'Problem' and 'Principle' in Xie Bingxin, MAKINO Noriko, A Collection of Essays on Bingxin 2012, 01 Jun. 2013, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press, This paper is a Chinese translation of "The 'Problem' and 'Principle' in Bingxin" (國學院中國學會報, No. 55, 2009). In his "Critical Review" (評閲述感, 1940), which the author discovered, Bingxin wrote that the search for "problems" should be emphasized in creative writing. The author explored when this view of creativity began in her works from the 1920s to the 1940s.

The number of students has plummeted, and changes to the dispatch system are being considered. This paper discusses how the revision of the "Immigration Law" was reported in China and how international students coped with it.

Political Aspects of Wu Wenzao, MAKINO Noriko, The Journal of Sinology Societty of Kansai University, 第28号, 37, 52, 01 Mar. 2007, Sinology Society of Kansai University, Wu Wenzao, the husband of Xie Bingxin, is considered the founder of Chinese sociology and anthropology. First, I described what kind of studies he studied and what kind of political ideas he had from his period of study in the United States (1923-29) to his period in Yunnan and Chongqing (1938-46). During his time in Yunnan and Chongqing, he was close in thought to the liberals who surrounded him, but he followed his own path. He analyzed how they dealt with Wu Wenzao's political aspects at that time, comparing it with Xie Bingxin's response.

Chinese and Japanese Students at Wellesley: A Reconsideration, MAKINO Noriko, The SENRIYAMA BUNGAKU RONSHU, 第70号, 45, 60, 01 Sep. 2003, Kansai University Graduate School of Literature, I have reconsidered and revised the inference I made in "Chinese and Japanese Students at Wellesley: Questions Concerning a Single Photograph" by contrasting two photographs newly provided by the Wellesley College archives.
The two photographs were taken in 1924, and one of them shows Chinese and Japanese students, including Xie Bingxin and Seo Sumie, who were enrolled at the time, surrounded by an American professor, Chantal Hart. Each of these photographs has a caption identifying the person in question, and there is no mistaking them. Each person was researched and identified by contrasting them with the person in the photograph used in "Paper #4.
The other photo was taken in 1924 at a play performed by Japanese students at Wellesley College. It shows Xie Bingxin, Seo Sumie, and two other Japanese students.
From these photos, the relationship between Xie Bingxin and the Japanese students is discussed, and Xie Bingxin's view of the theater is briefly described.
On Sumie Seo Mishima--From the Perspective of Xie Bingxin, MAKINO Noriko, The SENRIYAMA BUNGAKU RONSHU, 第67号, 69, 87, 01 Mar. 2002, Kansai University Graduate School of Literrature, In "On Sumie Mishima--A Japanese Friend of Xie Bingxin's," Seo Mishima is examined from Xie Bingxin's point of view. However, Seo's name did not appear in Xie Bingxin's works until they met again in Japan in 1946. 1946-51, when Xie Bingxin and her family lived in Tokyo, they had a dialogue in magazines. I have explored why Xie Bingxin had not revealed the existence of her Japanese friend Seo until then, based on Xie Bingxin's views on Japan and women.
The 1923 American Students in the U.S.-- From the "Shenbao" and Other Articles, MAKINO Noriko, The Modern China, 第75号, 191, 198, 01 Oct. 2001, The Society of Modern China, Based on the material used in the "Xie Bingxin's Study in the United States - The Pre-departure Situation," the paper sheds light on the practical studies that Chinese students in the United States majored in at the time and the social background that encouraged them to do so. Finally, he touched on Xie Bingxin and Wu Wenzao, who had gone beyond the mainstream trend of majoring in practical studies and majored in literature and sociology. He also discussed the occupations of these students after their return to China.
Chinese and Japanese students at Wellesley--questions surrounding a single photograph, MAKINO Noriko, The SENRIYAMA BUNGAKU RONSHU, 第66号, 129, 139, 01 Sep. 2001, Kansai University Graduate School, I have raised questions about a photograph of Xie Bingxin from her Wellesley College days. We attempted to identify the Chinese and Japanese students in this photo, including Xie Bingxin, based on individual photos of students who were enrolled at Wellesley College at the time.
On Sumie Seo Mishimaー-Bingxin's Japanese Friend, MAKINO Noriko, Yasou, 第68号, 40, 59, 01 Aug. 2001, When Xie Bingxin was a student at Wellesley College, the author wrote about Sumie Mishima (née Seo), a Japanese student who was studying at Wellesley College at the same time. From Mishima's descriptions of Xie Bingxin and other Chinese students in her two books written in English, "My Narrow Isle" and "The Broader Way", it is possible to find out the image of Xie Bingxin from her point of view. Mishima's image of Xie Bingxin. The author have noted that Bingxin was such a strong influence on Mishima that she changed her life.
