  • Arrangement of Concept of Tourism Enterprises Based on Destination with Its Invention and Evolution, Hirokazu Kobayashi, The Tourism Studies, 33, 2, 47, 59, 31 Mar. 2022, Japan Institute of Tourism Research, Tourism enterprises based on destination, or TEDs, have played an important part in the value chain of tourism, previous studies on TED, however, are a few and did not clarify how they could contribute to regional revitalization through tourism. In this study, the invention and evolution of the locally-based tourism business is followed from a diachronic perspective to understand the business in a relative manner. As a result, the TEDs have developed from the stage of making arrangements on behalf of tour operators at the source market to the stage of distributing directly products to consumers with the background of expertise in MICE or information technology.

  • Destination digital transformation derived with accommodation as a new digital intermediary: The centroid of tourism distribution gravity moving toward destination, Hirokazu KOBAYASHI, 3rd World Conference on Smart Destinations, 21 Nov. 2022, The Government of Spain, the Generalitat Valenciana, Valencia City Council, Visit València Foundation, Spain, València, Research on tourism digital transformation has been increasing in recent years, however, the concept of it remains diverse, and there is also confusion in both practice and academic fields. So further case studies are needed to clarify how it works, particularly for destination competitiveness. The length of stay has been the subject of many studies as it has a direct economic impact. While many existing studies have tried to identify the determinants on the traveller side, supply-side initiatives have not been paid much attention to. However, digital transformation can potentially change the style of travel from the supply side in an innovative way. This study aims to identify initiatives by the supply side to increase the length of stay through digital technologies. The ryugon, a traditional accommodation facility in a local area in Japan, sells experience products created by involving local people directly to consumers using a digital platform so that the initiative creates motivation for travellers to stay more. The use of digital technology enables local stakeholders immediately and timely to distribute experience products. Digital transformation has moved the centroid of gravity of distribution toward the destination side.

  • 2020, ケースメソッド教授法を取り入れた授業, 地域活性化論において、地域活性化の取り組みのケース教材をオリジナルで作成し、ケースメソッド授業を行った。ケース教材は、島根県海士町、徳島県神山町、宮崎県都農ワインの3種類を作成した。

  • 01 Apr. 2022, 31 May 2022, 観光庁, 「持続可能性の高い観光地経営の実現に向けた観光DX推進緊急対策に係る実証事業選定委員会」委員, 観光庁では、デジタル技術を活用し、観光地の密を避けるための混雑回避、地域全体の周遊による消費促進、顧客のリピート化につながる取組等を実施することで、観光地経営の改善を図り、地域活性化を実現したいと考えている。そのため、「持続可能性の高い観光地経営の実現に向けた観光DX推進緊急対策に係る実証事業」を実施することとなり、実証事業実施者の公募を行った。当該実施者の選定を行い、その選定委員会の委員として委嘱を受け承諾し、選定委員会へ出席した。
